Founded in 1986 with its headquarters in Brussels, Advanced Aerospace Designs began as an engineering company primarily specializing in the design and manufacture of safety automation systems aimed at achieving zero-injury workplaces.

 

In 1997, Advanced Aerospace Designs turned its attention toward air sports and the goal of developing a skydiving-specific security device by combining our safety expertise with those of industry-leading gear manufacturers, experienced riggers, and professional skydivers.

 

Addressing the industry's demand for a single unit that does it all, a multi-mode AAD with user-accessible jump data, no scheduled maintenance, with an extended usable lifespan, the Vigil AAD was born and in 1999 our first patent was granted. This innovation in the industry was a game changer!

 

In 2022, under new ownership and with a fresh management team, which combines 96 years of management and industry experience, 196 years in the sport, and 44,600 jumps collectively, they are driving the company forward and bringing a fresh approach to a well-established and trustworthy brand. 

 

In the 20 years since its launch in 2003, Vigil has become an essential piece of equipment for experienced skydivers, top competitors, tandem and student operations, and military markets worldwide.
